ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Dept. was established in the year 1963 and is one of the pioneering departments of the prestigious Amar Singh College. The Dept. offers pass courses in undergraduate level and also offers One year undergraduate course in Modern Indian Languages (MIL). The department has produced thousands of graduates, who have excelled in different walks of life including academics. The scheme and syllabi of the programs are prepared by the Board of studies under the Cluster University, with the main aim to enable students to pursue higher studies and to take up a job in India and Abroad. The intake capacity of students for enrolment is not fixed student is provided an entry into the course which is affiliated with University of Kashmir till 2017 and with Cluster University Srinagar from 2017 onwards the department has organized various seminars, quiz and calligraphy competitions which has strengthened both the teaching and research activities of the students and the faculty, in connection with World Arabic Day celebration, the department organized a seminar in order to make the students aware of scope of Arabic language and its relevance in the modern world. In addition to providing academics the department is trying to create platform to enhance research output as Amar Singh College has recently been designated as Research Hub for languages, fine art and music. Vision: The Department of Arabic seeks: To inculcate and develop in students the literary taste for better comprehension and appreciation of literary works. To make the students aware of Arabic language and literature in order to bridge the gap between Arabs and Non-Arabs. To innovate the teaching learning method in tandem with the developments in Information Technology. To implant human, patriotic and environmental values in students to make them social committed and deeply responsible citizens.
